Moonshine Rod Run 2003

On Friday June 20th and Saturday June 21st 2003, Newport's Hard Times Street Rods hosted it's 20th annual Moonshine Rod Run at the Newport city park.  Approximately 400 classic and custom cars and trucks were on display.  The weather -- of course -- was beautiful and a good time was had by all.  Here are some of our favorites.

This one was such a beautiful car we had to stop and chat with the owners, Mary Anne and Phil Powell.  Phil told us that they had just driven the car up from Florida, where they spend the winter.  Marie asked what kind of mileage they get, and Phil rolled his eyes.  Mary Ann said, "When the indicator gets to 'empty' we fill it up again.  We don't worry about what it costs."

Phil was happy to show us all the amenities their "classic" sedan offered.  These included, tilt wheel, cruise control,

This beauty is powered by a 383 Chevy V8, so it's got plenty of power.
