With the combination of the Cherokee and Pisgah National Forests, there are great hunting opportunities in Cocke County. Hunting is permitted in these forests, with the most popular game species being black bear, deer, turkey, and grouse. The forests in Cocke County are home to many species of wildlife, including deer, bear, boar, fox, weasel, opossum, skunk, raccoon, and various species of waterfowl within the waterways of both forests. A hunting or fishing license is required during the appropriate seasons for all hunting and fishing activities within the National Forests and other public lands. All hunting and fishing regulations are enforced by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).
